IMPERIAL BEACH, CA- Richard Benoit, 65 died peacefully at home with family by his side on Friday, May 6, 2011. He was the husband of Lucille (Abbott) Benoit to whom he was married for 45 Years.
Born October 15, 1945 in Woonsocket, RI the son of George Benoit and the late Juliette (Belleville) Benoit.
Besides his wife Lucille, he leaves a daughter, Karen M. Benoit of CA and two sons, Richard O. Benoit II of TX, James P. Benoit of CA, and six grandchildren.
Richard was called into active duty in 1971. He served his country on the Santa Barbara off the cost of Vietnam. Within ten years of his naval career he obtained rank of Chief in 1981. Then only one year later in 1982 he was commissioned as an Ensign (LDO) Legal Officer. In 1997, after serving his country for twenty-six years he retired from the Navy as, Lieutenant Commander Legal Officer of Recruit Training Center of San Diego, CA. After retirement from the service he was employed with American Systems Corporation.
His is also survived by two brothers, George H. Benoit and Robert E. Benoit both of No. Smithfield and two sisters, Linda (Benoit) Richardson of Wrentham, MA and Georgette (Benoit) Leduc of Woonsocket.
A memorial service will be held on June 4, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady Queen Of Martyrs Church, Park Avenue, Woonsocket, RI.
