WOONSOCKET- Jean T. (Smith) Yarbough-Carpenter, 84, of Clinton St., died Thursday, May 26, 2011 in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of William A. Carpenter and the late Douglas V. Yarbough of Franklin Square, NY.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Brenton and Rose (Dobeck) Smith.
She retired from the former Miller Electric Co., Woonsocket where she was employed as a hanker. After retiring, she worked at the Arc of Northern RI for several years. She also worked as a stitcher for the former Woonsocket Dress Co., Fashion Sportswear and Royal Robes. She was a former member of the Kennedy Manor Social Club.
Besides her husband, William, she is survived by a daughter, Sheila J. Yarbough of Harrisville and a brother, Richard Smith of Woonsocket. She was the sister of the late Robert, Stanley and Shirley Smith.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 3, 2011 at 10 AM in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone, MA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, RI.
