Hudon, Biernacki are Burrillville's best

BURRILLVILLE — Kerstin Hudon is the valedictorian, and Thomas Brien Biernacki, the salutatorian, for the Burrillville High School Class of 2011, Principal Michael Whaley announced this week.
Hudon, who ranks first in her class of 196 seniors, finishes her four years at Burrillville High School with a grade point average of 4.42, receiving highest honors each semester.
The daughter of Roland and Barbara Hudon of Cherry Farm Road, Harrisville, she is a member of the Rhode Island Mathematics League, Float Committee, Poetry Out Loud participant, State Ballet of Rhode Island Company, Blue Moon Amateur Tribal Dancing Collective, and Charitably Loud.
Her school leadership positions include Student Council (president, secretary, public relations officer), Homecoming Parade planning, Mr. Bronco pageant, Burrillville Middle School Talent Show, Freshmen Orientation, Class Officer (treasurer, 2011), Bronco Palooza, BHS Community Service Club, and BHS Tutoring Program.
Hudon's service activities include Community Service Club coordinator, St. Patrick's Food Closet volunteer, Burrillville Middle School activities, Burrillville High School graduation, Senior Awards
Night, Jesse M. Smith Memorial Library charity dinner, NS Practice Emergency Drill, Mill Pond cleanup, and Burrillville Arts Festival.
She was also active in the Jesse M. Smith Library Summer Book Program, Breakfast with Santa and Senior Citizens Prom.
Achievements and honors include Outstanding freshman, sophomore and junior in several advanced placement courses, Outstanding Service to Student Council, National Honor Society inductee, Claiborne Pell Award for Excellence in U.S. History, Russell Sage Scholarship Nomination, University of Rochester Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award; Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award, 2011 Secretary of State Civic Leadership Award, and 2011 Lieutenant Governor Leadership Award.
She is employed at Cinemaworld in Lincoln, and is a private tutor in North Scituate.
Hudon plans to attend the University of South Carolina to major in hospitality management and minor in business. Her career goal is to obtain a position in business/hospitality management and large scale event planning.
Biernacki, who ranks second in his class with a 4.30 GPA, is the son of Brian and Lucille Biernacki of Round Top Road, Harrisville.
His achievements and honors included Mr. Bronco in 2010, Homecoming King in 2010, High Honor Roll (grades 9-12), Outstanding Underclassmen in Web page design and advanced algebra, Rensselaer Medal, St. Michael's College Book Award, Varsity Soccer Third Team All Division, varsity Soccer All Academic Team, Burrillville Math League Top Scorer, and Rhode Island Science Olympiad.
Activities included Burrillville Glocester Youth Soccer Association recreation soccer, competitive soccer and recreation coach; Burrillville Varsity Soccer (captain), Burrillville Varsity track, Burriville Anime Club, Burrillville Math League, Student Council, Class of 2011, STAND and National Honor Society.
His work experience includes soccer referee for Burrillville Glocester Youth Soccer Association and documents analyst for Coto Technology, Inc.
Biernacki plans to attend Worcester Polytechnic Institute to study biomedical engineering and pre-medicine. His career goal is to become a physician.
