LINCOLN- Eugene B. Neas, Jr. 84, of Wake Robin Rd., Lincoln, died Wednesday, June 16, 2011 in the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Maguire) Neas whom he married September 25, 1980 and the late Mary (Sparrow) Neas.
Born in Arlington, MA, he was the son of the late Eugene B. and Catherine (Coleman) Neas.
A Licensed Social Worker, Mr. Neas was the Clinical Director for Trihab, Inc. in Woonsocket from 1990 until his retirement in 1999. He previously served as Executive Director of the St. Jude Foundation in Boston and the Sweet House in Attleboro. Gene had been a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church and belonged to the Manville and Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Clubs. He was a graduate of UMass, Boston, and received a Masters Degree in Education from Cambridge College, in 1982. He was also a friend of Bill W. for many years and had served in the Merchant Marines.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Karen Harrington of Brockton, MA, Cheryl McCarthy of Putnam, Ct. and Donna Scarbel of Suffolk, VA. He also leaves a sister, Kathryn McCarthy of Somerville, MA, thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert Neas, a brother, Robert Neas and sister, Janet Connors.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 9AM at the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket.
