WOONSOCKET- Roger B. Durand, 82, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of the late Yvonne F. (Willerval) Durand.
Born in Woonsocket on July 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Romulus and Medora (Durand) Durand.
He was the loving father of Yvette Y. Lambert and her husband, Richard of Woonsocket and Jeannine I. Rue and her husband, Roger of Cumberland; and his cherished 4 grandchildren, Michael and Valerie Lambert, Christopher and Nicholas Rue; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Aram, Armand, Leo and Edgar Durand, and Annette Baillargeon.
A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, Mr. Durand was a moulder at the Charlotte Foundry in Blackstone for 26 years retiring in 2001 and previously worked at Draper Corporation in Hopedale for 21 years. He was a communicant of All Saints Church, and a member of the Woonsocket Sportsman Club. He was an avid fisherman and Red Sox fan. Devoted to his family, he will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 6 at 9:00AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, July 5 from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
