James W. Picard, Sr.

NORTH SMITHFIELD- James "Willie" W. Picard, Sr., 87, of The Villa at Saint Antoine, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL and Woonsocket, RI died Saturday, July 2, 2011 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Patrick and Anna (Russell) Picard.
Mr. Picard worked for thirty-six years as a Fire Fighter for the city of Woonsocket, retiring in 1988. He was an Army WWII veteran and very active in functions lead by the VFW.
He is survived by and the proud father of James Picard, Jr. and John Picard, both of Tiverton, Joseph Picard and his wife Diane of Blackstone, Linda Fontaine and her husband Rene of Cumberland, Mary Leclerc and her husband Michael of Woonsocket, Ann Picard of Sarasota, FL, Patricia St. Pierre and her husband Michael of Coventry and Leah Agabiti and her husband Daniel of Cumberland. James is also survived by a brother, Robert Picard of Woonsocket, two sisters, Theresa Mayer of Cumberland and Trudy Bilodeau of Woonsocket, twenty-two grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and his former wife, Gloria Picard. He was the brother of the Raymond, Henry and Gerald Picard and grandfather of the late Kyle James Picard.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 8:45AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. John Vianney Parish, 3587 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm St., Blackstone. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5 - 8PM.
