WOONSOCKET- John J. Filipponi, Jr. 58, of Pinecrest Drive, Woonsocket died Saturday July 2, 2011 peacefully at home after a long illness.
Born in Derby, CT. he was the husband of Leslie Carey, son of the late John and Lucy (Bottachiari) Filipponi, Sr. He is survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mr. Filipponi recently retired after 26 years with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation as a resident engineer. He was a past President of the Italian Workingmen's Club in Woonsocket.
His funeral, beginning with visitation at 9:30 AM, will be held Thursday, July 7, 2011 from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket with Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Anthony's Church, 128 Greene St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Farm Street, Blackstone MA.
