NORTH ATTLEBORO- Norma E. McCarthy, of North Attleboro, passed peacefully on July 2, 2011 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas F. McCarthy, Sr. who passed in 1998.
Born in Houston, Texas on October 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Folse) Monaghan.
Norma was a resident of North Attleboro since 1956, moving here with her family from Houston, Texas. She was a loving mother of five children and a devoted wife and homemaker. She was happiest spending time with family and friends. An avid sports fan, her favorite teams were the Red Sox, Patriots and Bruins. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing Scrabble.
Norma was a very caring and compassionate woman who was especially adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a tremendous influence on her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Norma is survived by her five children; Linda Milinowicz of Chatham, New York, Thomas F. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Norma of North Attleboro, Michael McCarthy and his wife Celine of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, Christopher McCarthy and his wife Paula of Seekonk, and R. Matthew McCarthy and his wife Glenda of North Attleboro. Also survived by ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Rev. Francis Monaghan, Donald Monaghan, and Guy Williams.
A funeral will be held on Friday, July 8th at 9 AM from the John J. Diamond Funeral Home, 180 North Washington Street, North Attleboro. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Mary's Church, 14 Park Street, North Attleboro. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Thursday evening, July 7th from 4-8 PM. Norma will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Attleboro Falls.
