FRAMINGHAM- Leo Robert Milette, 84, died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at his home in Framingham, surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
Born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island he had been a resident of Framingham for the past 54 years and was the husband of the late Carmella "Chickie" (Cicchetti) Milette. He was the son of Thomas and Florida (Lachapelle) Milette and graduated from Mount Saint Charles High School. He graduated from Indiana Technical College, earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in civil engineering and worked as a civil engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers for 39 years. Prior to attending college, he was a staff sergeant in US Air Force during World War II, where he was stationed in Guam.
Leo was an active member of St. George in Saxonville, serving as an usher and project manager for many of the church renovations most notably the chapel in the lower church. After his retirement, he enjoyed his passion of genealogical research, spending many hours researching and volunteering at the American-French Genealogical Society in Woonsocket.
He will be fondly remembered as a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had a mischievous side, and enjoyed teasing his friends and family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Marianne Milette of Framingham, Donnalee (Milette) Shain and her husband, Michael, of Milford, two grandsons Thomas and Matthew Shain of Milford, a niece Lynn Sue Krol, her husband and children of Thousand Oaks California, and many dear friends. He was also the brother of the late Muriel (Milette) Cotton.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at St. George Church, 74 School St., Saxonville. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Milford.
Calling hours are Tuesday July 19 from 5-8 p.m. At the Eugene J. McCarthy and Sons Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St., Framingham.
