WOONSOCKET- Thomas J. Bouchard, 79, of Conrad St., died Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Jeanne M. (Moreau) Bouchard. whom he married in 1963.
Born in Esmond, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Dufresne) Bouchard.
He lived in Woonsocket for most of his life.
Mr. Bouchard began his teaching career at St. Edward's School in Providence, and was a teacher at Mt. St. Charles in Woonsocket and at Burriville High School before retiring in 1990 at the age of 58. Prior to his teaching career, he was a Social Worker for the State of RI for three years. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force and served in the Korean Conflict. In 1976, he was ordained as a permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Providence and was a member of the first class of ordained deacons. He was also an active member of St. Joseph's Church, where he served as Deacon from 1976 to 2006, and he ministered to the VNS of Greater Woonsocket as a Hospice Chaplain for ten years, for Tri-Hab as well as Zambarano Hospital in Burriville. He was also a member of Hamilton House. He attended LaSalle Academy, Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Warwick and received his Master's Degree in Arts and Teaching from RI College in 1968. He was a very loving and caring person. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Besides his wife, he is survived by, a son, Thomas Bouchard of Woonsocket, two daughters, Michelle and her husband Donald Lamoureux of Cumberland and Danielle Provoyeur and her husband Arthur of Cocoa Beach, FL, three granddaughters, Arianna Provoyeur, Kelly Bouchard and Emily Lamoureux and two grandsons Austin and Ethan Provoyeur. He was preceded in death by his brother Norman Bouchard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at 10:30AM at St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Calling hours are on Wednesday, July 27 from 5-8 PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So.
