NO. SMITHFIELD- Leo A. Savoie, 83, of Brentwood Dr., No. Smithfield, died Sunday, July 24, 2011 in The Friendly Home, Woonsocket.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Adelard and Yvonne (Gelinas) Savoie.
Mr. Savoie served forty-two years as an educator and administrator with the Woonsocket School Department, serving as an elementary teacher and teaching principal at Pothier, principal at Citizens Memorial and then as the first principal at the school later named in his honor. He later became the Curriculum Coordinator, Director of Elementary Education and Assistant Superintendent of schools until his retirement in 1994.
He is survived by his friends and caretakers, Kris and Monika Kmiecik, a godson, Ethan Kmiecik, a goddaughter, Natalia Kmiecik, all of No. Smithfield, and family and friends.
His Funeral will be held Saturday, July 30, 2011, with visitation beginning at 9AM, followed by a Service at 10AM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Precious Blood Cemetery, Woonsocket. A Mass of Intention in St. Paul's Church, St. Paul's St., Blackstone will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 8AM.
