WOONSOCKET- Irene F. (Lagace) Loens, 89, formerly of Diamond Hill Rd. died Wednesday at Woonsocket Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late George Loens.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Carmella (Tremblay) Lagace.
Irene was a graduate of the RI School of Practical Nursing and worked as an LPN for the former Mercy Hospital for ten years, and the former Fogarty and Woonsocket Hospitals for seventeen years before retiring. She was a member of the Divine Mercy Devotion and the Sr. Citizens Christian Group.
She is survived by two nieces, Elizabeth Farrell and Susan Ouellette both of The Villages, FL and a nephew Arthur Lagace Jr of Kirkland, WA. She was also the sister of the late Eugene, Arthur, and Raymond Lagace and aunt of the late Jeannine Healey.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St, Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Sunday 4-6 PM. Please visit www.fournierandfournier.com for guestbook and directions.
