WOONSOCKET- Robert A. Blais, 73, of Monty Ave., died Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the husband of Cecile A. (Lapierre) Blais whom he married on July 04, 1958.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of Albert W. Blais of No. Smithfield and the late Helena (Hebert) Blais.
He was a proud Graduate of Mount St. Charles Academy. His interest included woodworking, golf, and all New England sports teams. Above all he enjoyed the various ministries that he was fortunate to be involved in.
He was a Deacon for twenty five years, and more recently served at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Woonsocket. Deacon Blais served in the Korean War in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1963. He attended St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, Boynton Beach, FL and was ordained a permanent Deacon by the Archdiocese of Miami, FL on May 2, 1987. He also lived in Pompano Beach, FL for twenty years.
Besides his wife and father, he is survived by a daughter, Michelle Johnson and her husband David of Georgetown, IN, and two sons, Butch Blais and his wife Sue of Woonsocket, and Brian Blais and his wife Lynn of Greenville, a brother, William Blais of Woonsocket, two sisters, Jeannette Dansereau of Tennessee and Suzanne Benjamin of Florida and four granddaughters, Erica Miller and Lindsey, Kassy and Ashley Blais.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Monday from 4-8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
