WOONSOCKET- Robert P. Rondeau (Bobby Shannon) 74, resident of Woonsocket, died August 11, 2011 at the Landmark Medical Center.
Loving husband of 48 years to Jo Ann (St. Hilaire) Rondeau.
Born Jan. 25, 1937, a son of the late Emile & Rita (Sene) Rondeau.
Bob worked for Marion's Sew & Vac as a repairman for over 20 years but he was best known for his musical talent as Bobby Shannon. He performed for over 48 years at many clubs in the area such as, The St. James Hotel for 14 years, The El Toro Lounge, Ciros and many more. He also performed at Autumnfest and concerts in the park at Diamond Hill. His latest performances were held at the Elks lodge in Woonsocket with his sons and many local area nursing homes with his wife Jo Ann.
He was a graduate of Mount St. Academy in 1955. A member of the Naval Reserves for four years. He was Past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #850 from 2004-2005, a life member of Knights of Columbus, past member of St. Joseph Veterans Association, also a past member of the Italian Workingmen's Club.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons Mark J. Rondeau and his wife Laurie of Bellingham, Scott M. Rondeau and his wife Colleen of Cumberland, and Robert J. Rondeau and his wife Jan-Marie of Cumberland. Grandchildren, Shawn, Shannon, Kelsey, Mackenzie, Derek, and Kyle Rondeau. Great Grandchildren, Madison and Gabriel Rondeau. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am from the Keene-Brown Funeral 445 Greenville Rd. No. Smithfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church in Woonsocket. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Elks National Foundation C/O Elks Lodge #850 380 Social St. Woonsocket RI 02895. Calling hours will be held Monday from 4-8pm.
