August 18, 2011

WOONSOCKET – A Cumberland woman was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle Wednesday night as she crossed Mendon Road in search of gasoline for her broken-down van, police said.
Krystal Lee Durkin, 25, was struck about 11:45 p.m. and later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital, said Lt. Todd Boisvert, the lead investigator.
Though Boisvert said the incident remains under investigation, no charges have been filed against the driver, identified as Kevin Poirier, 32, of Cranston. He said there is no evidence that drugs or alcohol were a factor.
