WOONSOCKET- Eileen M. (Silvia) Champagne, 77, of Marie Anne Ct., passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 17, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, after a courageous battle. She was the wife of Robert G. Champagne whom she married July 10, 1954.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline (Rochea) Silvia.
Mrs. Champagne worked sixteen years as a cashier for CVS, Franklin, MA, retiring in 1996. She had previously worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Burton Stein in Bellingham, MA. She was a Communicant of St. Joseph's Church, active in the Woonsocket Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards. She will be remembered especially for her love of laughter and having fun.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Robert H. Champagne of Woonsocket and Michelle Lyon of Danielson, CT and six grandchildren. She was the last of twelve children.
A Memorial Mass will be held Monday, August 22, 2011 at 10:30AM from the St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Calling hours are Sunday from 5 - 8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 811 West Evergreen Ave., Suite 204, Chicago, IL 60642.
