NORTH SMITHFIELD - Dante Iapaolo, 87of No. Smithfield passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 21, 2011 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.
Born in Macchiagodena, Italy he was the son of the late Lucia (Dipardo) and Annibale Iapaolo. He was a graduate of the University of Rome in Rome, Italy. He was formerly employed as an assistant professor at Brown University, as a chemist for Uniroyal and Sears. He was an avid horse and greyhound racing fan.
He is survived by four siblings Antonietta Iapaolo, Lucia Iannone, Sandrino Iapaolo of Macchiagodena, Italy, Mario Iapaolo of Isernia, Italy and several nieces and nephews in Italy. Four nieces Andrea Finelli of East Greenwich, Valeria Varrecchione of Smithfield, Rosa Tramonti of North Providence and Fernanda Vaslet of Seekonk.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am from the Egidio DiPardo & Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave. Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Anthony's Church. Burial in Precious Blood Cemetery will be held privately. Calling hours will be held prior to the Mass from 8:30am until 9:30am.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
