WOONSOCKET - Claire B. Hanley 86, of Bullocks Point Ave., Riverside died Sunday at Waterview Villa in East Providence. She was the wife of Thomas E. Hanley.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late Irenee P. and Cornelie A. (Giguere) Benoit. Mrs. Hanley resided in Woonsocket for many years before moving to Bourne, MA. She was a bookkeeper for Woonsocket Sponging and for Real Estate Associates in Falmouth, MA. She was the salutatorian of her graduating class at St. Clare High School and delivered her commencement speech in French. Mrs. Hanley served as the Treasurer for the Falmouth Hospital Auxiliary and the Bourne Council on Aging for many years. Along with her husband she was awarded Bourne citizen of the year.
Besides her husband she is survived by her daughters Anne-Marie DiFusco and her husband Frank, of Cranston, and Diane H. Prengaman and her husband David, of Riverside, and three grandchildren, Natalie DiFusco-Funk, Ryan C. Holmes, and Alison M. Prengaman. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Lucien P. Benoit.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Joan 's Church, Mendon Rd. Cumberland, RI. Burial will be private. Visiting hours are Wednesday 5-8 PM.
