Janis E. Rosenlund

BELLINGHAM, MA. - Janis E. (Ekengren) Rosenlund, 72, of Bellingham, MA, died peacefully in her sleep at home on Friday, August 19, 2011. She leaves her beloved husband of 52 years Carl R. Rosenlund; two sons David C. Rosenlund and wife Linda of Worcester, MA, and Eric S. Rosenlund and wife Maureen of Whitinsville, MA; and two daughters, Liane B. Leahy and husband Richard of Berlin, MA, and Judi A. Dwyer of Bellingham. In addition, Janis leaves nine grandchildren, Sherron and Jaclyn Rosenlund of Worcester; Cortney, Sean and Patrick Rosenlund of Whitinsville; Kaitlin, Lauren and Chelsea Leahy of Berlin; and Kelsi Dwyer of Bellingham.
Janis was born in Worcester, the daughter of Swedish immigrants Carl J. and Eda E. (Quarnstrom) Ekengren and graduated from South High School. A resident of Bellingham for the past 50 years, she was first and foremost a homemaker, but also worked for many years for the former Shawmut Bank of Framingham.
In her retirement years she enjoyed knitting, reading and collecting Hummel figurines, but her favorite pastime was attending and supporting her grandchildren's many and varied activities. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she will be greatly missed by the entire family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Thursday, August 25, at 10:00AM at the First Parish Church, 16 Central St. in Berlin, MA. A private burial service will be held at All Faith's Cemetery (New Swedish Cemetery), in Worcester.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations in memory of Janis be sent to the Sjögren's Syndrome Foundation, 6707 Democracy Blvd., Suite 325, Bethesda, MD 20817 or by visiting www.sjogrens.org.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cartier's Funeral Home, Bellingham. An online guestbook is available at
