Edward H. Powers

UXBRIDGE - Edward H. Powers, 71, of Chapin St. died Mon. Aug. 22 at his home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 35 years Leona Carol (Depatie) Powers died in 1995.
He is survived by 5 sons, Edward M. Powers of Newry, ME., James R., Jeffrey H., Thomas H., and Timothy W. Powers, all of Uxbridge; a daughter Priscilla Thiebault of Uxbridge; 8 grandchildren Erin, Tracey, Jason, Samantha, Kate, Holden, Caroline and Matthew; a brother William Powers of Blackstone; 2 sisters Lucille Pulnik and Claire Powers both of Millville and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his sister Madeline Dean Gauthier.
Born in Woonsocket, RI on Aug. 7, 1940, he was the son of William and Priscilla (Helm) Powers and has lived in Uxbridge since 1982. He attended St. Charles and St. Theresa elementary schools in R.I. until he entered 7th grade in Uxbridge Public schools and graduated from Uxbridge High School. Mr. Powers was a truck driver for Mclean Trucking, Carolina Freight and ABF Freight until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Local 170 Teamsters and St. Marys Church in Uxbridge. He enjoyed fishing on Pascoag Reservoir (Echo Lake) in R.I. and camping at Horseneck Beach in Westport, Ma. with his family and friends. He was an avid old car enthusiast and loved cruising around in his 1962 Chevy Impala. Ed was so happy to have all his family and friends spend his last day with him at a gathering on Sunday the day before he passed.
His funeral will be held on Fri. Aug. 26 from TANCRELL JACKMAN FUNERAL HOME, 35 Snowling Rd., Uxbridge, MA., with a mass at 11 A.M. in St. Marys Church, 71 Mendon St., Uxbridge. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Thur. Aug. 25 from 5 to 8 P.M.
