BLACKSTONE - Rita Maloney, 86, of Blackstone, MA died August 20, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket, RI. She was the wife of the late John P. Maloney.
Born in Blackstone, MA she was the daughter of the late Elias and Mary (Duggan) Guilbeault.
Mrs. Maloney was owner and operator of the former Long John's in Blackstone, MA. She was also the receptionist for the Blackstone Town Hall for 20 years, retiring in May 2011. She was an active member of St. Theresa's Church as a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the choir, and church fund raiser. She was also active in St. Paul's Church.
She is survived by 2 sons: Peter Maloney of Blackstone, MA; Larry Maloney and his wife Judy of Blackstone, MA; 2 daughters: Rye Rivet and her husband Gerry of Blackstone, MA; Mary Ferguson and her husband Harry of Milford, MA; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and one sister: Patricia Murphy of CA. She was predeceased by 2 children Madonna Maloney O'Brien, John J. Maloney; one sister: Mary Devlin and one brother: Richard Guilbeault.
Mrs. Maloney's funeral will be held at 9:00 am Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from the James E. Kellett and Son Funeral Home, 38 Main St., Blackstone, MA followed by a graveside service at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Cemetery, Gaskill St., Blackstone, MA. Calling hours are Tuesday morning from 9:00-10:45 am.
