WOONSOCKET- Marc R. Martin, 54, of Capwell Ave., died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center, after a short illness. He was happily married for twenty years to the late JoAnn (Garner) Martin, who passed away in December 2009. A lifelong Woonsocket resident, he was the loving son of Roger M. and Lorraine B. (Fleurant) Martin of Woonsocket.
A 1975 graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy and a student at Nichols College, Mr. Martin worked over thirty years for Ardente Supply in a managerial position. He was also a Licensed Plumber for the State of RI. Marc was an avid woodworker, enjoyed traveling, cross country skiing, fishing and other sports. He was a mentor to his many nephews and nieces and loved spending time with his family and his recently completed vacation to Alaska.
Besides his parents, he leaves two brothers, Denis J. Martin and his wife Ann of Narraganset and Roger L. Martin and his wife Mindy of Scarborough, ME, two sisters, Michelle Eckilson and her husband Erik of Woonsocket and Rosemarie Martin and her husband Bruce Piette of Blackstone, MA and his many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his extended family, sister in law, Joyce Dias and her family of Smithfield and brother in law, John Garner, his wife, Janet and family of Coventry. Marc had many friends and was deeply loved by his family and was highly respected by his peers and will sadly be missed by all.
His funeral will be held Friday, September 2, 2011 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Agatha's Church. Joffre Rd., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 - 8PM.
