Robinson, Patricia A.
CUMBERLAND- Robinson, Patricia A. (Heinsohn), 63 of Cumberland, was the loving and devoted wife of Architect and Engineer, John M. Robinson. Patricia passed away August 29th at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
She was a mentor and caring friend to many, including her husband, former classmates, students, home care aides, and nurses throughout her lifetime.
Mrs. Robinson, a daughter of the late Fred P. and Antionette L. (Knorz) Heinsohn, was born in Queens, NY. The Heinsohn family moved to Cumberland in 1963. Pat was a 1966 graduate of Cumberland High School (with honors) and a 1970 graduate of Rhode Island College (with honors). She was a student teacher at Lincoln High School. Patricia taught Mathematics and Science for the Cumberland school system, until retirement in 1975 due to illness. As a member of the Cumberland Teachers Association, she taught at both the North and South Cumberland Middle Schools. She also worked part time doing both market research and proofreading for Robinson, Myrick and Associates, Inc., and Robinson Design, Inc, Architects and Engineers. She tutored high school and college students in Mathematics and was a proofreader for an English college professor who taught at Bryant University.
Patricia and John were married in 1971 at Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, and had just celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary August 21st. She was loved deeply by her husband, whom she supported throughout his schooling and professional career. Among her many magnificent achievements, was saving her husband John's life in 1990 by using the Heimlich Maneuver while she was seated in her wheelchair.
As a caring Christian of faith, Patricia's interest was always helping others, and giving to numerous charities. Throughout her last thirty-five years, while battling the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis, she continued to give to those in need.
Patricia greatly enjoyed shopping for and making care boxes to be given at Christmas time to nursing home patients. Her care boxes were sent specifically to patients that had no one to give them gifts. Pat simply signed them, You are being thought of. Love, Santa.
Besides her husband, John, she is also survived by her sister, Loretta A. Heinsohn of East Providence, as well as the entire Robinson family, and numerous friends.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 3, at 9am from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, with a Christian service at 10am at Victory Assembly of God, 321 Veazie Street, Providence. Visiting hours are Friday, September 2, from 4-8pm. Burial will be at the Diamond Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Because He Lives Ministries, P.O. Box 37, Woonsocket, RI 02895.
