NORTH SMITHFIELD- Marguerite "Maggie" (Bernier) Lebel, 92, danced her way to the Lord with her family by her side on Thursday, September 1, 2011 were she was a resident of St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, RI. She was the beloved wife of the late Armand J. Lebel.
Born in Malbai, Canada on August 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Anatole and Lea (Lavallee) Bernier.
She was the loving mother of Robert A. Lebel and his wife Gloria of Woonsocket, RI and Diane M. Grenon and her husband Villa of Bellingham, MA; and her cherished five grandchildren, Debbie Davidge, Robert Lebel, Jr., Shelly Bernardini, Scott Lebel and Wendy Berard; and her eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. The last of her siblings, she was the sister of the late Armand and William Bernier, Lillian Trinque, Rita Leveillee and Madeline Perdoni.
A former resident of Bellingham, she worked as a waitress for the former Bellingham Amusement Club, and worked in the textile industry and was a knitter at the Heller Knitting Company in Woonsocket for over 20 years until retiring. She was a member of AARP, the Senior Center on Social St., Woonsocket and was an avid bingo player. Devoted to her family, she will be greatly missed.
Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 10:30AM from CARTIER'S FUNERAL HOME, 151 So. Main St. (Rte 126), Bellingham, MA with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM at St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Interment will follow at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham. Visiting hours are on Tuesday, September 6, from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Marguerite Lebel may be sent to the St. Antoine Residence, SCU Unit, 10 Rhodes Ave., North Smithfield, RI 02896 would be appreciated.
