City man faces charges of sexual assault, intimidation

September 3, 2011

WOONSOCKET – A Providence County grand jury Friday indicted a city man in connection with an alleged sexual assault that occurred this summer.
Abdoulie Njie, 34, of 62 South St., is charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second-degree sexual assault and one count of witness intimidation, according to Attorney General Peter Kilmartin's office.
The crimes took place between July 10 and July 25, the indictment says.
Police reports say the victim was 19 years old and lived in the same apartment building as Njie. She told police he came into her bedroom on the pretext of giving her a piece of mail, began kissing her and then forced himself on her sexually.
She eventually fought off Njie, who allegedly offered her $100 to keep quiet about the attack.
The victim was so shaken she hid in a closet and refused to come out until the police arrived. She was lated treated at Landmark Medical Center.
