NORTH SMITHFIELD- Mary Cecilia (McQuade) Deslauriers, 98, of No. Smithfield, died Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in the Friendly Home, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Gerald A. Deslauriers, who died in 1998.
Born in Woonsocket, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Mary (Hewitt) McQuade.
Mrs. Deslauriers was an executive secretary at the Lippitt Woolen Mills in Woonsocket from 1946-1957 and later executive secretary of the Economics Dept. at Brown University. After her retirement in 1978, she volunteered at Woonsocket Hospital, many area libraries, the American Heart Association, and she traveled extensively with her husband. Mrs. Deslauriers was a member and communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket.
She is survived by her son, William J. McQuade and his wife Karen of Warwick, a brother, T. Neil McQuade of Blackstone, MA, a sister, Elizabeth Flynn of Woonsocket, two grandchildren, Aaron McQuade and his wife Evie Nagy of Jersey City, NJ and Abby McQuade and her partner Christopher Daley of Cranston, RI, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn A. McQuade, two brothers, William and James McQuade and two sisters, Zita Carrier and Eileen Furman.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 11AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Project Undercover, 1 Selkirk Road, Cranston, RI 02905.
