CUMBERLAND- Catherine (Taran) Engert, 75, of Harriet Lane, passed away Monday at Rhode Island Hospital Providence. She was the wife of Richard J. Engert.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was the daughter of the late Catherine T. Taran.
She resided in Cumberland for the past 43 years.
She was a proud homemaker who had great joy in raising her family and enjoyed her cats Hunter and Bandit.
She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland. She loved her family, and cherished her time with her grandchildren.
Besides her beloved husband, she leaves four children, son, Richard A. Engert of Killingly, CT, son, Clark P. Engert and daughter in law, Pamela of Acton, MA; daughter, Christine M. Walzer and son in law Nick of Walpole, MA and daugther, Lee Ann Chavez and son in law, Mark of Framingham, MA; one brother, Fr. Peter Taran of Graymoor Friars of the Atonement, Garrison, NY; five grandchildren Ryan, Craig, Trevor, Marissa and Madison. She was the sister of the late Kenneth Taran and Richard Taran.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to American Lung Association, 260 West Exchange Street, Suite 102B, Providence, RI, 02903 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
