WOONSOCKET- Edgar A. "Mike" Farland, 79, of Woonsocket, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the Woonsocket Health & Rehabilitation Centre. He was the husband of the late Lorraine A. (Drolet) Farland.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Edgar J. and Leonie A. (Guay) Farland.
Mr. Farland worked as a Meat Manager for Almacs in Blackstone, MA and in Woonsocket from 1955 to 1992. He was a Pilot at North Central Airport in Lincoln for five years. He was a member of the Honda Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and enjoyed boating and golfing.
He is survived by a son, Robert Farland of Woonsocket, a brother Gerry Farland of No. Attleboro, MA, a sister, Janet Hennessey of No. Smithfield and a grandson, Robert Farland, Jr. of Walpole, MA.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 11AM in St. James Cemetery, Old River Rd., Manville. Calling hours are omitted. Arrangements are under the direction of the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
