Raymond A. Lemire
CUMBERLAND- Raymond A. Lemire, 86, resident of Cumberland, formerly of Pleasant St. Bellingham, passed away September 14, 2011 at Landmark Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the loving husband of 61 years to Claire (Defond) Lemire.
Born July 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry and Viola (St. Amant) Lemire.
Ray worked for Kendall Mills and Textile Machine Shop, retiring in 1972 due to illness. Ray also was in the Seabees during WWII for three years and served in the Philippines, American Theater of War. He was a member of the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon. He was a lifetime member of the local VFW, St. Joseph and Bellingham Senior Citizens. He was an avid wood worker and made doll houses for every one of his grandchildren. He attended Bellingham South Grammar School. He was a communicant of St. Theresas Church, Blackstone and Assumption Church, Bellingham. He lived most of his life in Bellingham and formerly of Mendon, MA.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Roland of Pascoag and Steven Lemire of Cumberland (with whom he lived the last five years, three daughters, Gloria Fafard and Diane Ernst both of Myrtle Beach, SC., and Denise Mottola of Harrisville, twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren, three brothers, Leo of OK and Henry Lemire Jr. of Blackstone, MA, and Larry Lemire of Medway MA, five sisters, Claire Wojcik and Constance Melville both of Bellingham, MA, Claudette Pantano of Del Ray Beach, FL, Lucille Turcotte of North Smithfield and Pauline Lariviere of Blackstone, MA.
He was the brother of the late Eugene, Normand and Robert Lemire.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from the Keene Brown Funeral Home, 445 Greenville Road, North Smithfield, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Theresas Church, Rathbun St., Blackstone, MA. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beacon Hospice 1 Catamore Blvd. East Providence RI 02914. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4PM to 8PM.
