BELLINGHAM- Rita M. (Courtemanche) Galuza, 88, of Bellingham, died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 in Hopkins Manor, North Providence. Her husband of 52 years, Alex Galuza, died in 1998.
Born in Blackstone, MA, she was the daughter of the late Pierre and Florilda (Thibeault) Courtemanche.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Woonsocket, the Ladies of St. Ann's and the former Assumption Church in Bellingham. Rita loved to play tennis, sewing, baking, cake decorating and crafts.
Rita is survived by three sons, Richard Galuza and his wife Paula of Blackstone, MA, Donald Galuza of Westerly and Michael Galuza and his wife Courtney of Glen Ellyn, IL, three daughters, Linda Stevens and her husband Thom of Wexford, PA, Carol Levesque and her husband Henry of Bellingham, MA and Mary Moriarty and her husband Daniel of Taunton, MA, a sister, Cecilia Laprade of Woonsocket, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Vincent Courtemanche and her sister Florence Iskerski.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 9:30AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Joseph's Church, 1200 Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Calling hours are Friday from 5-8 PM. Burial will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2011 at 9 AM in Resurrection Cemetery, 259 West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association-RI Chapter, 245 Waterman St., Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
