HARRISVILLE- Doris E. "Daisy" (Sheldon) Crockett, 88, of Harrisville, RI and formerly a longtime resident of Douglas died Sat. Sept. 3, 2011 in Providence. She was the wife of the late Fred E. Crockett Jr. who died in 1998.
Mrs. Crockett was born in Harrisville, RI on May 16, 1923, the daughter of the late B. Wilson and Ethel (Ballou) Sheldon. She was a 1943 graduate of the former Milford Hospital School of Nursing in Milford and had been a resident of Douglas since 1959 prior to moving to Harrisville, RI.
Mrs. Crockett was a licensed practical nurse for many years in the maternity wing at the former Woonsocket Hospital. Along with her husband, she owned and operated the B & C Farm on West St. in Douglas and was a member of the Berean Baptist Church in Harrisville.
Mrs. Crockett is survived by one son Fred E. Crockett III of Webster, a daughter Joyanne C. Morse, a sister Rhoda Charlton, a grandson Jon C. Morse and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Sat. Sept. 24, 2011 at 9:30 AM in the Evergreen Cemetery, West St., Douglas, MA 01516 followed by a memorial service at 11 AM in Berean Baptist Church, 474 Chapel St., Harrisville, RI 02830. A reception will immediately follow the memorial service in the church hall.
Flowers may be omitted and memorial donations may be made to the Berean Baptist Church, 474 Chapel St., Harrisville, RI 02830. Arrangements are under the direction of the Buma Funeral Homes, Whitinsville.
