BURRILLVILLE - Gregory W. Pontious, 55, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011 in Kent Hospital, Warwick.
Born in Toledo, OH, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Margaret G. Pontious.
Greg was an automotive and autobody technician, working for major car dealerships in MI, MA and RI along with smaller auto shops. Greg was an instructor of automotive technology at the Community College of Wastenaw in Ann Arbor, MI and was involved with the BMW Automobile Club of MA, restoring their vehicles. Greg was member of the Masons and Loyal Order of Moose in Milan, MI.
Greg enjoyed fishing, camping, attending car shows and was an avid NASCAR fan. Almost every Thursday evening you could find him on turn four for Thursday Nite Thunder at Thompson Speedway. Greg also loved watching Sprint Cars.
His is survived by his former wife, Emma Lou Pontious of Burrillville, two sons, Robert Pontious of Warwick and Corey L. Pontious of Burrillville, two sisters, Nannette S., wife of William V. Kershaw of Milford, MA and Carolyn A., wife of James H. Reed of Linwood, MI, one brother, Milton C. Pontious of Woodbridge, VA and his girlfriend Amy Newman and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 to calling hours from 5 to 6 pm in the Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave. Pascoag, with a service starting at 6 pm.
