CUMBERLAND- Rene J. Barrette, 73, of Sun Valley Dr. in Cumberland, died Friday, September 16, 2011 at South County Hospital in So. Kingstown. He was the husband of Elaine R. (Roberts) Barrette.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Bernadette (Letendre) Barrette.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna Barrette Rizzo of Haverford, PA, his son, Jeffrey Barrette of Olympia, WA, two brothers, Roger Barrette of Woonsocket, and Arthur Barrette of No. Providence, one sister, Lucille Ricci of Lincoln and five grandchildren, Sara, Ryan and Julia Rizzo and Peter and Anne Barrette. He was the brother of the late Claire Levreault.
Mr. Barrette worked for Gilbane Building Company for fifty years, retiring in 2006. He also served in the US Army.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, September 23, 2011, at 8:45AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. John Vianney Parish, 3587 Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Road, Cumberland. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8PM in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to the Arthritis Foundation.
