BELLINGHAM- Theophile H. "Phil" Barnabe, 87, of Elvira St. Bellingham, formerly of Rathbun St. Died Tuesday September 27, 2011, in the Friendly Home, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Thea L. (Rotatori) Barnabe. Phil and Thea, celebrated their 64 wedding anniversary on June 21st.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Napoleon and Delima (Pelletier) Barnabe.
He worked as a Jeweler, for Gray Jeweler's for 35 years, and for the Department of Business Regulations, for 10 years. He was a United States Navy Veteran serving in WWII. He participated in shuttling GI's onto Normandy Coast of France in the D-day Invasion, and also at Arzio Beachhead, Sicily and Africa.
He was a former member of the Italian Workingmen's Club, Elks 850, Knights of Columbus, The Fairmount Post 85, Democratic City Comittee in Woonsocket, and the Woonsocket Zoning Board.
Besides his wife he is survived by two children Mark and wife Carol Barnabe of Cumberland, R.I. Linda and husband Anthony Piccirilli, of Narragansett, three grandchildren David Piccirilli, of Narragansett, Caitlin and Jillian Barnabe of Cumberland. One sister Eva Barnabe, of North Smithfield. He also was the brother of the late Jean Paul Barnabe, Leo Houle and William Houle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 1, 2011 at 11 A.M. in All Saints Church Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Relatives and friends are invited, calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private. The S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to, Mt. St. Charles Development Office 800 Logee St. Woonsocket, R.I. 02895 and to Bryant University Development Office, 1150 Douglas Pike Smithfield, R.I. 02917, would be appreciated.
