GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Mrs. Carol Lynn Swansen Potter, age 68, of Grand Rapids, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 28, 2011.
She grew up in Chicago; and after graduating from high school, Carol earned her B.A. in education from Luther College.
For 13 years she taught elementary school and then earned her Masters Degree in Counseling at Northern Illinois University. She met Don through Community Theatre.
After her marriage, Carol became a devoted stay-at-home wife and mother who proudly volunteered at her childrens school. In 1979 she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. She and Don moved to Grand Rapids, and they joined Blythefield Hills Baptist Church in 2004.
Carol became active in drama ministry, worked with the Summer Teen Worship Camp and the Kids Worship Camp, and took part in the dramas, especially at Christmas and Easter.
She will be remembered for her beautiful independent spirit. Carol is survived by her loving husband, Donald; children, Christopher and Megan Potter, Elizabeth and Craig Isaak, and Jonathan Potter; grandchildren, Jack Henry Potter, Cole Hermann Isaak, Caroline Ruth Isaak, and Miles Isaak.
The Memorial Service of Praise and Thanksgiving for the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ for Mrs. Potter will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Blythefield Hills Baptist Church with Pastor Louie Konopka officiating. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to contribute to Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods, for the Benevolent Fund, 8214 Pfeiffer Farms Dr. Byron Center, MI. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the service.
