WOONSOCKET- Walter E. Greenlund, 63, of Delray Beach, FL died Monday, October 3, 2011 while visiting in Rhode Island.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Walter W. and Doris M. (Cournoyer) Greenlund.
Mr. Greenlund worked for General Motors in Framingham and Interstate Towing in Woonsocket, retiring in 2004. He served as a Sargeant in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. Wally liked watching baseball and going fishing but especially enjoyed spending time with his family and was considered the number one fan at his grandchildren's sporting events.
He is the father of Jeffrey Greenlund and his wife Deena and beloved "Pep" to his two grandchildren, Alex and Julia Greenlund of Wellington, FL, he also leaves a sister, Sandra Marceau of No. Smithfield.
His funeral will be held Friday, October 7, 2011 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, No. Smithfield. Calling hours are Thursday from 4 - 7PM. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
