NO. SMITHFIELD- Sofia (Kyryliw) Sofia (Stasesin) Sokolski Kyryliw, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside just before her 90th birthday. She was the beloved wife of the late John Kyryliw.
Born in Magic Mala, Croatia, Sofia came to the United States in 1961 and settled in Woonsocket, RI. She worked at the Finkelstein Mill for over 20 years as a seamstress and inspector. For the last 24 years she lived in No. Smithfield. RI. Sofia was a member of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality.
She was a cooking, knitting, and crocheting enthusiast. Above all her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, devoted family and friends. She treasured them dearly.
She is survived by her son Ivan Sokolski and his wife Marie of Vernon, CT. sister Gloria Skvoric of Uxbridge, MA.. grandchildren, Mark Sokolski of Vernon, CT. Andrew Sokolski and his wife Rebecca of Columbia CT. and numerous nieces and nephews, in the United States & Croatia. Sofia's generosity, love and passion for life will be missed dearly.
Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Friday October 7, 2011 from 10:00 to 11:30A.M. at the Kubaska Funeral Home, 33 Harris Ave. Woonsocket, RI. A Mass will immediately follow in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 394 Blackstone St. Woonsocket followed by burial in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church or the Visiting Nurse and Health Services of CT., Inc., 8 Keystone Drive, Vernon, CT. 06066.
