Broncos earn first win

October 22, 2011

BURRILLVILLE – It was a day that Kevin Deschamps and his Burrillville teammates soon won’t forget.
Deschamps finished with 202 rushing yards on 14 attempts with four touchdowns as the Burrillville picked up its first win of the season, blowing past Scituate, 45-6, in a non-leaguer Saturday at Alumni Field.
“It was great to see the kids enjoy today,” said Broncos head coach Gennaro Ferraro, whose team has absorbed more than its fair share of close setbacks. “It was nice to see all that hard work pay off.”
The Broncos led 25-0 after one quarter and 38-0 at halftime. Quarterback Pat Scotland finished 3-for-3 for 94 yards and one touchdown, a 58-yard pass to Glen St. Pierre. Scotland also added a rushing score from 15 yards out.
Defensively Steven McCormack had an interception while Chris Charpentier recovered two fumbles. Now 1-6 overall, the Broncos will seek their first Division III win of the campaign when they head to Narragansett this Saturday.
