Peter W. Koerner, Sr.

CUMBERLAND- Peter W. Koerner, Sr., 65, of Sun Valley Drive., Cumberland, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 1st, 2011 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Pauline (Brothers) Koerner whom he married on February 13, 1972. Father of Kimberly Koerner of Warwick, RI, and Peter Koerner, Jr., his wife Dana and the proud Grandfather of Leila Koerner of Wake Forest, NC.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Senior and Audrey (Pritchard) Koerner.
He was the sibling of the late Richard Koerner.
He worked as an Analyst for Amica Mutual Insurance Company in Lincoln for thirty-three years, retiring in 2003. He was with the 1st and 3rd Recon Battalion in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He actively volunteered his time to the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and received many distinctive awards.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 7th, 2011 at 9:30am, in St. John Vianney Parish, 3587 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Calling hours are Sunday, November 6th from 3 to 6pm in the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main Street, Woonsocket.
