Burrillville's Bob Mitchell, left, and Cumberland's Kieran Reilly were among the veterans who gathered for a photo that appears on today's Military Page in advance of Friday's Veterans Day holiday.

Approximately 50 veterans from the Blackstone Valley gathered on Saturday for a photo session in advance of Friday's Veterans Day holiday.
Here is a roundup of Veteran's Day news and events in the Woonsocket area:

WOONSOCKET -- Volunteers from the Georges Dubois Veterans Exhibit at the Museum of Work and Culture are planning a Veteran’s Day observance at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, outside the Museum, which is located on Market Street.
In the case of inclement weather, the ceremony would be moved to the ITU Hall inside the Museum.
The general public is invited to attend. This year’s theme will be World War One. A moment of silence will be observed in honor of all who sacrificed their lives in that conflict.
Local war veterans are specifically invited to participate in the ceremony. Museum co-director Raymond H. Bacon will present a historical overview of how the World War impacted the local region.
Boy Scout Troop 2 from Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Parish will assist in the setup and participate in the flag-raising ceremony. A flag-folding ceremony featuring members of the Junior ROTC program at Woonsocket High School will be held, narrated by Dave Richards of WOON radio.
Jeff Gamache of WNRI radio will read a brief history of “Taps” and will narrate its lyrics, which will be played by two trumpeters from Mount St. Charles Academy.
Several re-enactors will be present and Keith Ezovski of Lincoln will fire the traditional cannon blasts to open and close the ceremony.
Local performers Charles Desaulniers and Jean O’Donnell will be the guest soloists.

WOONSOCKET -- A special birthday party will be held on Thursday to celebrate the 236th anniversary of the founding of the Marines back in 1775, when Captain Samuel Nicholas formed two battalions of Continental Marines in Philadelphia as naval infantry.
Anyone who wants to attend can order tickets early for $25 and receive a free Marines T-shirt or flag at the door. Just call 401-769-9555 to order tickets, or buy them at the door on Thursday night, assuming the party isn’t sold out by then.
