MURRELLS INLET- Gary W. Glatki, 62, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2011 in the presence of his family.
He was born on December 19, 1948, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to William and Frances Glatki.
Gary graduated high school from Mount St. Charles Academy in RI. He continued his education at the University of Rhode Island and received his Masters of Education and was a Doctoral Candidate from Boston University. For thirty four years, Gary devoted his life to teaching in the Massachusetts School System.
As an avid New England Sports fan, Gary followed the high schools sports from Barnstable High School, Hyannis, Mass., the Cotuit Kettleers baseball team, Cotuit, Mass, the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.
Gary loved the beaches of Cape Cod and upon retirement moved to Murrells Inlet, South Carolina to enjoy the weather and beaches of the South.
He is survived by his loving wife Claire, of 32 years. He leaves behind his son Travis, a Myrtle Beach Firefighter and daughter Hannah, a student and aspiring teacher, his father William Glatki and sister Gayla Glatki of Rhode Island and mother-in-law, Dorothy Schmid of Colorado, many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues. Proceeding him in death was his mother Frances (Kubaska) Glatki and father in law Clarence Schmid.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Seven Hills Rhode Island, formerly known as the ARC of Northern Rhode Island, 1 Cumberland St., 4th floor, Woonsocket, RI 01898 or the charity of ones choice.
Burial will be private. A celebration of his life will be held on Cape Cod at a later date.
