BELLINGHAM - Roland E. "Joe" Bernier, 85, of Cross St. died Tue. Nov. 8, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Phyllis (Norcross) Bernier; children Roland (Bud), his partner Cindy Miner; Phillip (Skip) and his wife Cindy all from Uxbridge, MA; Gloria Anne Green of San Antonio, TX and Jo-Ann Fitzgerald and her husband Tim of Hardwick, MA; 6 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brother Jean Paul Bernier of Bellingham; 2 sisters Theresa Giguere of Bellingham and Rina Dubois of Woonsocket; he is predeceased by 9 siblings in addition to several nephews and nieces.
Born in Bellingham, on Dec. 19, 1925, he was the son of Raymond and Celina (Beausoleie) Bernier living in Bellingham his entire life. He was a U.S. Navy WWII veteran. Mr. Bernier worked as a maintenance technician at the Bellingham High School for many years, previously working in construction for over 20 years. He was a member of the Blackstone Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed outdoor sports; taking care of his orchard.
There will be no services; a private memorial is planned in the spring. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the VNACARE; 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608. Tancrell Jackman 35 Snowling Rd, Uxbridge, MA 01569.
