Emile W. "Nick" Niedzwiadek
RAYNHAM, MA- Emile Walter "Nick" Niedzwiadek of Raynham, MA. passed away peacefully on November 12, 2011 at Morton Hospital in Taunton, MA. from Alzheimer's Disease. He was the beloved husband of Vivian M. (Page) Niedzwiadek whom he married on April 26, 1952.
Born April 22, 1926 in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Walter & Stasia (Kogut) Niedzwiadek.
He was the loving father of a son Dr. Walter E. Niedzwiadek and his wife Sandra of Latham, NY., a daughter Monica V. Leonetti and her husband David of Taunton, MA. He also leaves four cherished grandchildren Nicholas & Daniel Niedzwiadek and twins Christopher & Abigail Leonetti. He was the brother of the late Frederick J. Niedzwiadek.
He was a former resident of Bellingham for 47 years and formerly of Blackstone & Woonsocket. He graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1944, graduated from Portia Law School (now New England School of Law ) in 1950 with a Juris Doctor Degree, he received a Master's Degree and a C.A.G.S (Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study) Degree from Calvin Coolidge College in Boston, MA., completed courses in Driver Education at Worcester, Boston & Bridgewater State College. He taught Business Subjects and Driver Education at Bellingham High School from 1955 to 1982 and continued to teach Driver Education at Franklin High School from 1987 to 2007.
During his residency in Bellingham, he served as the Zoning Agent from 1961 & 1962, Health Agent from 1964 through 1969, Building Code Committee in 1966, Board of Registrars from 1972 through 1985 serving as chairman between 1978 & 1983. He was elected to the Democratic Town Committee serving from 1980 through 2000, elected a Planning Board Member, serving from 1985 through 1995, served on the Blue Ribbon Insurance Commission from 1988 through 1989, served on the Economic Development Task Force from 1993 to the Completion of Objective. He was a member of the American Legion Fairmount Post #85, The Retired Educators Association of Massachusetts and a life member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local #262, playing trumpet and drums. He served in the U.S. Navel Seabees as a buglar for 2 years during WW II in China & the Phillipines.
As a teenager, he was the leader of his own Polka Band. After serving in WW II, he was the trumpeter with the Al Pernini Orchestra, The Eddie Wilson Orchestra, The Merry Bells Orchestra and the Lewandowski Orchestra. After their marriage in 1952, Nick and his wife Vivian formed thier own orchestra, The Harmonics, performing in R.I., MA. and Ct. He was a communicant of the former Assumption Parish and a communicant of St. Blaise Parish of Bellingham.
His Funeral will be Thursday at 8:30 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home, 35 Harris Ave. Woonsocket, RI, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Harris Ave. Woonsocket. Burial will be in St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Relatives & Friends are invited.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00P.M.
