WOONSOCKET- Leonard Van Bever, 93, of Star Ave., passed away peacefully on Tuesday at home with his family by his side. He was the loving husband of Phyllis M. (Samek) Van Bever.
Born July 4, 1918 in Woonsocket he was the son of the late Leonard & Marie (Henault) Van Bever, he resided in Woonsocket most of his life.
Leonard was employed as an assembler for the former GMC in Framingham, MA for many years until retiring. He was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater receiving the Campaign Ribbon with 4 service stars. One of his Military duties was driving 2 ton trucks with officers on the front line under enemy fire. He was an avid sportsman & hunter.
Besides his wife he was the loving father to a daughter: Rosemary A. Brown of Woonsocket, 3 Stepsons Richard & Alan Golembeski both of Woonsocket, Robert Golembeski of Harmony, RI, a Stepdaughter Lynne Leroux of Woonsocket, 9 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren.
His Funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 A.M. from the Kubaska Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in St. Joseph's Church, Mendon Rd., Woonsocket. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. John The Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA. Relatives and Friends are invited. Visitation hours are Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M.
