Friars up at the half on Florida A&M

November 19, 2011

PROVIDENCE – The Providence Friars are taking it to the Florida A&M Rattlers, 39-19, after 20 minutes at The Dunk. The most eye-popping stat is the 14 turnovers the Friars forced, resulting in 20 points.
Florida A&M, which was picked to finish last in the MEAC preseason poll, shot just 27 percent. For the Friars, Bryce Cotton continues to score at a high clip. The sophomore guard notched the team’s first seven points on his way to ending the half with 13.
It’s worth noting that Vincent Council spent some time on an exercise bike, no doubt the result of a nasty fall he took Monday night in Fairfield in which the point guard immediately grabbed his ankle.
The game is one of four PC will play as part of the South Padre Invitational. The Friars will play one more game at The Dunk – next Tuesday vs. Southern – before spending Thanksgiving weekend in South Padre.
