WOOD RIVER JUNCTION- Fernand Jerome Bergeron, 86, of Bristol and Wood River Junction passed away on Nov 20th at South County Hospital. He was the husband of Therese Dolores (Desauliniers) Bergeron.
Born in Woonsocket, he was the son of the late Cme and Roseanna (Bergeron) Bergeron.
He was a graduate of Sufferin High School in New York and received his master's degree in education from Boston College. He was employed as French and Latin teacher at Middletown High School for 34 years and was the last Latin teacher in the Middletown School Systems. He was a communicant of St. May's Church and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of both the St. Mary's Choir and the Bristol County Interfaith Choir. He was a 4th degree Knight and served as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus for 3 years. He was a troop committee member for both Boy Scouts Troop 6 and Cub Scout Pack 6. He was a member of the RI/NE teachers Association.
In addition to his wife Therese, he is survived by his children Jacques Bergeron of Watertown MA, Philippe Bergeron of Hope Valley RI, Ann Marie Tavares of Richmond RI, Michael Bergeron of Dover NH and Elizabeth Paul of West Warwick his brother Leo Bergeron of Florida and sister Francoise Brault of Norwich CT and 12 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Helen Guillemette.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday Nov 23rd from the George C. Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St. with a Mass of Christian Burial, 11 AM at St. Mary's Church, 330 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
Visiting hours are Wednesday 9 - 10:30 AM.
