BREWSTER- Myrtle G. Wilkins, 94, of Brewster passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Liberty Commons Skilled Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on August 16, 1917, in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elsie (Flye) Tabor.
She attended the Pawtucket Hospital School of Nursing. In 1937, she married Woodrow Woody Wilkins at the Congregational Church in Slatersville, RI, where they lived for 52 years, later retiring to Cape Cod in 1981.
For many years, Myrtle and her husband owned and operated a sport and hobby shop, she was a devoted member of her church and a Girl Scout Leader. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow Wilkins and her two sisters, Marilla Eastman and Marjorie Thomas.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joan Van Baalen and her husband, James of Brewster and Reverend Janice M. Meikle and her husband, Robert of The Villages, FL; her sister, Doris M. Wilks of Chatham; her five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 26 at the First Congregational Church of Harwich in Harwich.
Burial will follow in Brewster Memorial Cemetery on Route 124 in Brewster.
