WOONSOCKET - Johnie Allen, 89, of Rhodes Ave., died December 4, 2011, in the Oakland Grove Health & Rehabilitation Center, with his family by his side. He was the husband of Ulersee (Scurry) Allen.
Born in Newbury, South Carolina, son of the late Frances (Spearman) Allen.
Mr. Allen was a United States Army Veteran, serving in WWII. Mr. Allen worked for the US Rubber Co. for 25 years and also for the Woonsocket School Department for 16 years.
Mr. Allen was baptized at the Little River Baptist Church in Newbury, South Carolina, He was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Woonsocket, where he was Past Church Treasurer for 9 years and served on the Board of Trustee's
Besides his wife Ulersee, he is survived by one son Clemon W. and wife Carol Allen of Woonsocket, two daughters, Linda Farrow, and Patricia Allen both of Woonsocket, three grandchildren, Erica Lynn. Farrow, of Cumberland, Wesley Jamiel Allen, of Tuzon, Arizona, Ambria Mariah Allen of Woonsocket, one great-grandson, Christian Jacob Allen, of Arizona. One brother James Allen of Woonsocket, one sister Bessie Chattman, of Woonsocket. He was preceded in death by his brother Willie Allen and son -in- law Howard Farrow.
His Funeral will be held Friday at 11 A.M. in St. James Baptist Church, South Main St. Woonsocket, Burial with Military Honors will follow in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield. Relatives in friends are invited. Calling hours will be held on Thursday Dec. 8, 2011 from 5-8 P.M. in the S.DiPardo Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1583 Diamond Hill Rd. Woonsocket, R.I.
