WEST WARWICK – Mount St. Charles took unbeaten La Salle into overtime before dropping a 3-2 decision on Saturday night at the West Warwick Arena.
Sophomore Bryan Lemos netted the game-winner at the 3:09 mark of overtime.
Mount had led 2-1 on a goal by Brandon Borges early in the second period. La Salle, which had defeated Mount 3-1 in the season opener on Dec. 2, tied the game three minutes into the third period on a goal by Stephen Roccio when the Mounties had two players sitting in the penalty box.
“That’s the second time they have scored on us in a 5-on-3 situation,” Mount coach Dave Belisle said. “Other than that, I think we played extremely in this game. I thought we had the edge in the territorial battle. In the first game against La Salle, I thought they won the territorial battle so this game was definitely an improvement for us.
