James R. Nichols

WOONSOCKET- James R. Nichols, 67, of Knollwood Drive, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of Irene M. (Morrissette) Nichols whom he married August 31, 1968.
Born in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Emile and Aurore (Rondeau) Nichols.
Mr. Nichols graduated from Woonsocket High School in 1962 and later graduated from Roger Williams College in 1978. He worked most of his career as an Electrical Engineer for Northrup Corp., GTE, Alden Research and RCA, but had also recently worked as a Machine Operator for Avery-Dennison. An Air Force Veteran and a member of Club Lafayette, James enjoyed NASCAR, quoits, horseshoes, reading, crossword puzzles and traveling.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Andrea Cournoyer and her husband Brian of Woonsocket and Stephanie Cz and her husband John of Sarasota, FL, a brother, Thomas Nichols of Woonsocket and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon in All Saints Community Church, 323 Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, West Wrentham Rd., Cumberland. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Jimmy Fund, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
